After the Arta region, the caravan of the Djibouti Social Development Agency (ADDS), carrying a project PROPEJA (Project for the Promotion of Youth Employment and Handicrafts), was last Thursday passing the capital of the region of Ali Sabieh. Visitors are organized a raffle to benefit 209 young assajogs eligible under this program. A draw which will retain early as 24 young assajogs, including 12 boys and 12 girls. The event, which was held in the conference room of the seat of the regional council of this city, was attended, besides the 107 girls and 102 young men eligible, the president of the regional council, Omar Ahmed Wais, director General ADDS Mahdi Mohamed Djama, the representative of the CPEC, Radwan Aynan Aden, and the head of PROPEJA project Ide Mohamed Abdillahi.
Unlike other meetings with the youth of the city of Djibouti Layablay district and those of Arta, young Ali-Sabieh bombed issues interlocutors of ADDS. This meeting was very lively and showed much interest that young assajogs wore PROPEJA project said.
Taking the first floor, the Regional Chair of Ali Sabieh thanked the young people for their massive participation in the debate.
Omar Ahmed Wais recalled that the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Secretary of State for National Solidarity, and ADDS launched on March 2 a broad program to promote youth employment through a project PROPEJA entitled. « Following this initiative, ADDS officials came to Ali Sabieh March 11 to list the young so that some of you may have training on how to unite to create micro-enterprises . So in Ali Sabieh on 222 young people registered, 209 met the eligibility criteria. We will thus proceed this morning to decide by a draw these 209 young people to retain only 24 of them will be trained in the field of entrepreneurship, « he said in substance.
Finally, the Regional Chair of Ali Sabieh encouraged young people to take advantage of this training to create and manage their own businesses in the future. The head of PROPEJA project Ide Mohamed Abdillahi, has, in turn, said the project, initiated by the ADDS under the leadership of the State Secretariat for National Solidarity and administered by the World Bank, was funded by Japanese funds for social development.
He then detailed the conditions and terms of the conduct of the draw to decide between the 209 participants in transparency. « A second draw will be conducted later to select 8 more boys and 8 more girls who will be on the waiting list. These will be admitted to this course if one or more selected recipients would fail. Otherwise, they will be given priority to attend the second round of this training, « he said.
Concerning young unselected assajogs, Ide Mohamed Abdillahi said they will retry their chances at the upcoming raffles planned throughout the project.
For its part, the general director of ADDS, Mahdi Mohamed Djama, said the aim of the project is the creation of jobs for young people. It allows, he has said, to improve the accessibility of youth in income generating and employment opportunities and this through training, coaching and financial support for the implementation of their income generating activities. Then he emphasized that this project is to train young people in the entrepreneurial field so they can create their own businesses in the future.
Lasting three years, this basic training on entrepreneurship aims to stimulate the creation of micro-enterprises. And through this, 600 young people will be trained in the region of Ali Sabieh. With reference tool as the training guide that was developed by the team responsible for the project. Approximately 1,200 developers groups will benefit from seed funding following the validation of the regional committee.
Note that this project also includes a second component which is the formation of 800 women in the field of production and marketing of handicrafts. These also will receive financial assistance to improve their handicrafts.
