Mothers-counselors and better-informed facilitators in Dikhil
The Djiboutian Agency for Social Development (ADDS) organized a training workshop on the prevention of maternal and child malnutrition in the Dikhil region from 31 October to 1 November 2017. The initiative targeted new mothers-counselors and facilitators from three sub-prefectures in the area of the unit, namely As- Eyla, Mouloud and Yoboki. It came within the framework of the implementation of the « social safety nets » project.
It is indeed a program to promote a change of behavior through various communication and delivery channels such as home visits, group information sessions or the organization of culinary activities, such as that weight gain and size, promoting exclusive breastfeeding … etc.
The 2-day training workshop took place in the conference room of the Dikhil Regional Council. Placed under the aegis of Dikhil regional council chairman Abdourahman Yonis Arreh, the inaugural ceremony of this meeting saw the participation of 20 mothers-counselors and 5 facilitators. Both are called upon to appropriate good nutritional and health practices.
A prerequisite whose satisfaction should contribute to strengthening the capacity of mothers-counselors who are already active in the community of Dikhil-ville.
These will be community relays responsible for sensitizing their dikhilois congregations on the importance of using basic health care services such as pre-natal and post-natal consultations, assisted deliveries, vaccinations, preventive health care and other services. children … etc.
